Transmission Failure problem of the 2014 Nissan Rogue 1

I have a 2014 Nissan Rogue select with 72,000 miles. It shudders/jerks intermittently during idle at drive mode even when ac and fan are off. I do not know exactly how far I am from transmission failure. Earlier the car had a catastrophic engine failure at 38000 miles and it was replaced under the Nissan warranty. Today I went for an oil change and they found that the cv axle of the right front is damaged and needs to be replaced.

Driving for any distance 30-40 miles or more, the transmission fails. The vehicle starts to slow down while the rpm's rise and the transmission starts making a high pitched whining sound. If the vehicle is allowed to sit, usually for 2 hours, the vehicle will start and operate normally for short distances. During the most recent event,. Defective transmissions jerk, stall, shudder, hesitate, and even suffer from premature transmission failure. Unexpected surge of power from the engine. I carried it in the Nissan crossroads wake forest nc. They told me cvt unit needs replacing. The vehicle left me stranded on interstate 40 driving back from morrisville nc from work. After several tries I finally got it to the dealership at 11pm leaving me stalled again . I could have caused an accident. The vehicle only has 92,612 miles. Nissan won't take any interest in paying for the repairs even though they have had lawsuits along with multiple complaints about their cvt transmission. I'm a single mom working during this covid virus to shipper myself and my child with no other income. This vehicle is too new to have these problems. I have to drive an hour to work and an hour back. I need a vehicle ASAP . I'm still lock in payments with this vehicle and cannot afford to trade with this vehicle malfunctioning.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2017 Nissan Rogue 8

I bought my 2017 Nissan Rogue sv with 4 miles on it. On July 12, 2020 at 11:30 pm my car's transmission went out. I lost complete power on the busy kennedy expressway outside of chicago while driving with 3 friends in the car. The car began to chug and the rpms were between 3 and 4. I was unable to accelerate and eventually the car slowed to a stop on the shoulder. If this had been rush hour, we could have been seriously hurt. Nissan says because my car is at 72,000 of my 60,000 warranty they will only pay for 50%. Nissan told me they recommended rebuilding the kit instead of replacing the whole transmission because it was more cost effective for them. I spoke with Nissan consumer affairs, who made me wait 4 days while they 'escalated' it only to come back and say they only can approve 50% of the costs. I have done all necessary maintenance to vehicle and this is the only problem I have had. Too bad its a huge problem. If you google cvt you will see that the 'experimental' transmission has failed in most Rogues leading up to and including the 2016. Nissan says there is no recall or extended warranty for the the 2017 (yet). This is unacceptable.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue 21

Nissan installed defective cvt transmissions in several vehicles between 2010-2016. My 2012 Nissan Rogue is included in that. I am now being told that I need a new transmission, and Nissan is refusing to replace. It. My vehicle starts fine, but the transmission has failed. After looking online, I've found numerous other complaints of the same issue, and I feel there needs to be a further investigation, and recall on this cvt transmission. The vehicle starts, but when you try and accelerate, the rpms go up, but nothing happens, then it will screech and lurch forward. I had to have it towed to the dealership, who confirmed that it was a problem with the transmission. The salesperson at the dealership advised me that Nissan was aware of the problem with the older cvt transmissions, and have fixed it in the new 2019 models. This is a serious safety issue, as my transmission failed in the middle of traffic, with no warning. Please see attached links for several other complaints, and class action lawsuits, involving Nissan's cvt transmission. . Read more..

Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue 22

At around 92,000 miles (exactly a month after my 90,000 mile service at a Nissan dealership) on 11/15/2018, the transmission failed on an exit ramp of I-40 at lebanon, TN. The car would lurch and go forward so I was able to get off the exit ramp and into a parking lot. Aaa towed car to Nissan cookeville where they said a low pump pressure caused the transmission to fail. They replaced this transmission with a rebuilt transmission and I was able to drive the 150 miles back home. On 11/29/2018, while sitting at a red light after pulling off I-140 in alcoa, TN, I pressed the accelerator and my car would not go. I was sitting in the middle lane at 5:30pm on a dark, rainy Thursday night. I had to call 911. It took a police officer 10 to 15 minutes to get there. The area where I was is right off I-140 exit ramp. I ended up backing traffic up on an interstate because my car would not go. Thankfully, no one wrecked into me. Since I could not tow my car 150 miles back to cookeville, I took it to the alcoa dealership. Where I was told they would not honor the replaced transmission from the cookeville Nissan dealership. So, I am out over $4,000, have no transportation, and have no income to buy a replacement vehicle because of the $4,000 I spent 2 weeks ago on another transmission. I am terrified of cvt transmissions. I am sickened that I have no resources to help me at least fight the $4,000 for the transmission that failed 2 weeks after being put in my car. This car is incredibly dangerous to drive, as evidenced by the fact that I was blocking traffic in a major intersection, in the rain, at night, during heavy traffic. I do not have the documentation with me as it is with my car at the alcoa dealership, but I will be willing to provide once I am able to get to my car.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue 23

I was driving on the highway at about 60 mph when suddenly the acceleration dropped down to 10-20 mph in traffic with other cars speeding toward me. I tried to accelerate but could not -- putting myself and fellow motorists in grave danger. I could barely make the car go 10 to 20 mph to make it to an off ramp to try to get to safety. My 2012 Nissan Rogue transmission failed. There is a repeated history of transmission failure by Nissans including the Rogue. Nissan is aware of the problem and extended warranty to cover some years and models for this problem. They have not covered others yet there are repeated complaints. Nissan is fully aware of the problem yet has put myself and other motorists at risk. I called the nearest Nissan repair service center to tell them a tow truck would be brining my Nissan there. I barely started to explain what happened and immediately the service center person said he knew what it was the transmission and asked for my VIN so he could see if it was covered by the extra warranty Nissan granted some models. It did not. It will cost $5,400 to replace transmission and complete repairs which I will ask the service center to complete. However, a recall should be placed on 2012 Nissan Rogues for this issue. This problem is putting people's lives at risk.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue 26

In 2016 I purchased a 2012 Nissan Rogue from a dealership with 80,000 miles. After three years (107,000 miles)the transmission blew out. My wife was driving on to the ramp of i85 in GA, vehicle in motion, when the transmission failed. I contacted Nissan to resolve this issue as they told me that unless it showed neglect on my behalf, they would they be willing to help. They explained to me to bring the Rogue to he nearest dealership to do a diagnostics test. When I went to turn on the car to take to dealership, the car would not drive. The car was only able to drive in reverse. I had to call a tow truck to tow it to the dealership. After about a week of the vehicle sitting in the Nissan dealership, Nissan consumer affairs contacted me back as they made a decision to deny helping me. This is completely unacceptable as the car is only 6 years old. I have researched the history of Nissan Rogue and it seems that they have had issues with this in the past. They informed me that my car was no longer under warranty and the total expense would be my duty. This car is not safe to drive. I was informed by Nissan consumer affairs to file a complaint as to explain what happened. I know that this has been a problem with Nissan in the past years. Nissan should be responsible for making this car is to drive and built to last. Nissan should stand behind their product.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2013 Nissan Rogue 28

After having a transmission fail in April 2017 and having it replaced by the Nissan dealer in colorado springs, colorado, I was shocked when my 2013 Rogue losing speed and refusing to accelerate a year later. I was driving to my parents about an hour away doing about 55mph. About 40 minutes into my trip my car would not accelerate and was quickly losing speed. I managed to limp it to my parents, already knowing what was happening. This is the second transmission in a vehicle that now has only 112,000 miles on it. If I were to replace it would be 3 transmissionsin 5 years for the car. Nissan north America is not willing to help, but seems to know this is happening to numerous people. They knew it years ago but did not change the transmission, instead continues to install the cvt transmission and make money when their products fail and we have to replace and repair.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Nissan Rogue 29

My 2016 Nissan Rogue experienced an abrupt and total failure of the cvt transmission. I was not able to accelerate and the vehicle would lurch and lose power. This abrupt failure makes me feel very unsafe for myself and my family that rides in this car, had it stalled on the busy st louis mo interstates we would have been hit and possibly killed, luckily I was on a busy, but less traveled road and I was able to limp the car to the dealership. My vehicle only has 41,000 miles on it. Once I got to the dealership, I insisted that they ride with me so they knew what was happening and not try to say that they couldn't replicate the issue when driving it alone. The service professional was very upfront and honest with me and told me it was definitely the transmission and Nissan has tons of these issues with their vehicles. My car has been in the shop for over a week now for a transmission rebuild. However, Nissan is not offering an extended warranty or anything on it, even though they know they are faulty and dangerous, I will only have 20,000 miles left on my warranty once I pick my care up from the dealership. Nissan doesn't offer loaner cars to those with warranty work that needs done, we have to pay $35 a day due to their faulty vehicles, the least they can do is offer loaner vehicles for warranty work! Nissan needs to held accountable for their lemon vehicles and be required to buy them back on the first transmission failure. I no longer feel safe driving this car, even with the rebuilt transmission and I don't think that it should be my responsibility to trade the car in, roll over thousands to another vehicle loan and pay $1500 or more in taxes to license and title another vehicle. Nissan needs to take care of this and they need to be fined for their continued use of faulty transmissions and made to buy back faulty and dangerous vehicles.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2012 Nissan Rogue 30

I purchased my 2012 Nissan Rogue on 6/13/17. It had 63,000 miles on it. On 6/28/18 a year into ownership my cvt transmission went out while on the interstate taking my daughter to her state softball tournament. Had it towed to my mechanic an hour away to be told the transmission had to be replaced. After spending $4900 on a new transmission fast forward a year later starting in June of 2019 my 4 year old daughter and I were at a stop sign trying to cross a busy highway after checking the road was clear to go across my vehicle suddenly lost power and wouldn't accelerate so here we sit in the middle of the highway with cars barreling toward us at 65 mph not able to move! my first thought was how am I gonna get myself out and un strap my 4 year old out of her car seat before these cars kill us!! thankful after putting the pedal the floor my vehicle finally crept across the intersection to safety. This has happened 24 times in the last 3 months and the mechanic can't replicate the problem no warning lights at all. He said it's another bad cvt transmission?! how can a year old transmission fail? and how can two cvt transmissions fail in the same vehicle twice?! the answer is it can't unless it's defective I paid $4900 for a transmission that did the same thing a year later after I replaced it! it sits in my driveway not being driven because it's a death trap!! I don't want me or my children killed! Nissan come clean before many people are killed due to your defective transmissions!.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue 34

The cvt transmission on the vehicle failed at just under 115k miles. I followed the maintenance plan provided by the manufacturer and had the transmission inspected at a dealer as part of that maintenance schedule. The transmission failed in rush hour traffic on a busy city street, and there were no check engine or other warning lights in advance of the car suddenly struggling to accelerate and jerking to a stop when trying to brake. This happened in rush hour traffic with a child in the car, which was extremely dangerous. Even after I was able to coax the car off the road and into a parking lot, jerking and practically stalling along the way, there were no warning lights or other indicators that subsequently came on to indicate there was any potential trouble with the vehicle. The dealer service advisor could only say the transmission suffered an internal failure and could not explain why it happened, what caused it or how the transmission passed prior inspection fewer than 30k miles prior to sudden failure. It is fortunate we were not rear-ended when the acceleration failed and that I was able to get off of the road so that me and my child were not in further danger on the road. This transmission is hazardous to have in vehicles as it can bring one to a stop almost immediately with no warning at all, and the manufacturer can't even explain why or what happened. They also will only replace the failed cvt with another cvt, which I believe is unsafe so I won't be having it repaired. The Nissan cvts should not be on the road. They are as dangerous to others in traffic with one of their vehicles when the transmission fails as they are to the owner/occupants of that Nissan vehicle.

Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Nissan Rogue 35
