MathType is an interactive equation editor that lets you create mathematical notations for word processing, web pages, desktop publishing, presentations, elearning, and for TeX, LaTeX, and MathML documents. You can use MathType as a stand-alone application or launched from within other applications, such as MS Word. Navigate to the MathType directory in your Programs folder and select (probably will be here C: Program Files (x86) MathType Office Support 32) (I have office x86, if you have office 64 than choose the 64 directory Select 'MathType Commands 6 For Word 2013', ok and close the add in tab in word. You should see the mathtype tab.

The MathType Toolbar (in Word) The MathType toolbar contains 9 icons. The descriptions below should help you decide when to use each of the icons. Note: If you are using Office 2007, these items are included in the MathType tab on Word’s Ribbon. Some are also included on the Ribbon in PowerPoint 2007.
