Zip -9 myfile.zip. zipsplit -n 250000000 myfile.zip would produce myfile1.zip, myfile2.zip etc., all independent of each other, and none larger than 250MB (in powers of ten). Zipsplit will even try to organise the contents so that each resulting archive is as close as possible to the maximum size. Zip is a compression and file packaging utility for Unix, VMS, MSDOS, OS/2, Windows NT, Minix, Atari and Macintosh, Amiga and Acorn RISC OS. It is analogous to a combination of the UNIX commands tar(1) and compress(1) and is compa. Symptoms

Error in zip, after downloading file with epmautomate, when user attempts to unzip (from my Exalytics machine):
Warning [xx.zip]: 76 extra bytes at beginning or within zipfile (attempting to process anyway)
error [xx.zip]: reported length of central directory is
-76 bytes too long (Atari STZip zipfile? J.H.Holm ZIPSPLIT 1.1 zipfile?).

Compensating...

Synopsis

zipsplit [-t] [-i] [-p] [-s] [-n size] [-r room] [-b path] [-h] [-v] [-L]zipfile

Arguments

zipfile Zipfile to split.

Options

-t

Report how many files it will take, but don't make them.

-i

Make index (zipsplit.idx) and count its size against first zip file.

-n size
Make zip files no larger than 'size' (default = 36000).
-r room
Leave room for 'room' bytes on the first disk (default = 0).
Zip splitter
-b path
Use path for the output zip files.
-p

Zipsplit Windows

Pause between output zip files.

-s

Do a sequential split even if it takes more zip files.

-L
