PHENOMENA
Meteorological Phenomena Identification Near the Ground (mPING) is a project to collect weather information from the public through their smart phone or mobile device. The free mPING mobile app was developed through a partnership between NSSL, The University of Oklahoma and the Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies. Events in space are among the most intriguing and awesome of all phenomena.Space phenomena can be defined as naturally occurring events that are caused by the vacuum of space, contained within space or directly result from an event within space.
A phenomenon is an observable event. In the science classroom a carefully chosen phenomenon can drive student inquiry.
Draft Assessments
Draft assessments created by K-12 science teachers at NGSS workshops. In most cases the teachers went from standard to assessment in around an hour. They are first drafts and have not been used with students.
RESOURCES
Student inquiry is best understood through the science practices and crosscutting concepts. Poster and cards are included.
